A historic 120-year-old Locomotive 3001 is back in service after a three-year restoration project in New South Wales.
The steam engine was built in 1903 and spent much of its life in regional NSW or hauling passenger trains on Sydney's suburban rail network.
It will now be used to pull passenger trains along the NSW Rail Museum's Loop Line.
Transport Heritage New South Wales chief executive officer Andrew Moritz said it was a significant day for the much-loved locomotive.
"This has been a labour of love for our team over the past three years, during COVID-19 as well," he said.
