Man dead, woman trapped, in highway crash at Maddens Plains near Wollongong in NSW

A man has died in a two-vehicle crash on the Princes Hwy at Maddens Plains, near Wollongong. A woman who was trapped inside the same vehicle for some time has since been taken to hospital. A utility vehicle and a car, both travelling southbound, collided about 4pm on Wednesday. Watch the latest news and stream for free on 7plus >> The utility then crashed into the guard rail. The ute driver died at the crash site. He is yet to be formally identified. His female passenger became trapped in front seat and was extricated before being taken to St George Hospital. The car driver was not injured and was taken to Wollongong Hospital for mandatory testing. NSW Police are investigating the crash.
